A Shingled House at the Water's Edge

A Shingled House at the Water's Edge

We've worked on this project for a vibrant, young, family for over 6 years, doing things in phases. The property is one of the few historic properties in this part of Tiburon, circa 1914. It was originally conceived as a brick masons' village and feels like it might be equally at home in, Maine as it is in the Bay Area where it sits extremely close to the water's edge.
Our most aggressive project was the demo of the kitchen, which we took on during the pandemic. It involved gutting the old kitchen wing and inserting about 30 giant screws/pylons deep into the earth to ensure that the structure is secure in very sandy soil. We used hand-hammered copper sinks and unlacquered brass faucets, and tile from Waterworks. The custom cabinetry and unusual cappuccino onyx add to the mood of the space. Also, a specimen piece of Koa, makes an elevated perch between the dining room and kitchen spaces.
